Jason E. Stone, Ph.D

Division Head of Liberal Arts, Assistant Professor of Communication

Jason Stone serves as the Division Head of Liberal Arts at Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City. Jason teaches communication and public speaking skills. Jason has over 20 years of work experience in higher education. During that time, he has served in a number of roles: administrator, tenure track faculty member, lecturer, staff-member, and adjunct.
Mr. Stone's experience includes teaching, data collection, curriculum design, publishing, matriculation sequencing, program and certificate construction, employee supervision, budget management, gift solicitation, special event planning, grant oversight, and organizational culture creation. Mr. Stone is a thought leader in online education at OSU-OKC and beyond.

SPCH 2723 Interpersonal Communication

Focus is on developing a conceptual framework for viewing varied interpersonal relationships as transacted through communication. Through participation, in-class activities students are encouraged to develop skills appropriate to overcoming problems experienced in real-life situations. Prerequisites: [R] [W]

SPCH 1113 Introduction to Speech Communication

Principles and techniques of preparation, participation in and evaluation of communication behavior in conversation, the interview, group discussion and public speech. A competencybased approach. Prerequisites: [R] [W]

Various Special Topics

I routinely teach portions of Liberal Arts team-taught Honors courses. In these classes, I've explored: communication climate, demagogic rhetoric, the rhetoric of convergence and divergence, scapegoating, fascist rhetoric, invective, heroic communication, power, archetypical heroes, anti-heroes, and villains in story-telling, fascism, and communication in sports.
